Shahab Ardalan, VP of Engineering at Enosemi, on Tuesday presented on “Tools for the Open Chiplet Economy” alongside Alphawave Semi as part of a tutorial on “The New Open Chiplet Economy.” The session discussed how “Chiplets have rapidly become the accepted way to develop chips at leading-edge nodes. In theory, they allow designers to drop known-good dies into their designs wherever needed. However, in practice, designers must have a way to quickly find what they want in a form they can use. A new chiplet economy is thus necessary.”
On Wednesday, Feb. 7, Shahab also joined a panel discussion on the “Best Way to Optimize Chiplets” alongside ARM, Untether AI, Synopsys, Blue Cheetah Analog Design, and Credo Semiconductor. The session discussed how “chiplet optimization may involve many approaches. Power demands can be reduced by lowering voltage levels or reducing operating frequencies. Throughput can be increased by using faster interfaces or shortening distances between devices. Other approaches include using optical interconnect instead of electrical, using faster memory technologies such as MRAM, or avoiding structures such as interposers which slow down signals.”
Enosemi’s silicon photonic solutions directly enable photonic chiplets for the emerging chiplet ecosystem, with optical chiplets side-by-side with electrical chiplets.
